The Houston Gunners are a semi-pro football team comprised of public safety personnel. All players are required to be public safety personnel to play in the NPSFL (National Public Safety Football League). This includes police, fire, emt, corrections, and other public safety career fields.
The Houston Gunners are a full contact football team in the National Public Safety Football League. The Gunners have been playing for 18 years. The Gunners play other police departments, fire departments, and correction departments around the nation; there are 26 public safety teams in the league. The Gunners also play semi-pro football teams in the State of Texas, as pre-season games.
The Houston Gunners have played in five National Public Safety Football League championships, the first being in 1998, 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2004. The Gunners won the National Championship in 1999, the N.P.S.F.L. Championship 2003 and the N.P.S.F.L. DII Championship 2004.
The Houston Gunners are a registered 501 C (3) nonprofit organization, that was founded in October 1994 by Houston Police Officers to raise funds for charitable organizations through full-contact football.
