I am excited to share with you the following information about our annual concert/music gala and Robert A. Henry Lecture and Gala Preview. This year's event we will have special guests the internationally renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers for the Saurday evening concert ONLY. Our special guests on the Sunday event will include up and coming singers from our local region.
To be clear, we have two performances - Saturday March 3rd at 7 p.m. and Sunday March 4th at 4 p.m. The Fisk Jubilee Singers will perform during the Saturday concert ONLY!

Annual Robert A. Henry Lecture and Gala Concert Preview
Dr. Barbara W. Baker, an internationally acclaimed choral conductor and music educator, will present a lecture-demonstration with a focus on the works of contemporary Black composers whose arrangements and compositions reflect the exciting confluence of African American gospel and Euro-classical traditions. Music by singers from Houston Ebony Opera Guild will also be featured.
Dr. Baker’s lecture-demonstration will provide a preview of the concert to be performed at the ANNUAL AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSIC GALA in early March 2012.
With sponsorship by Friends of Houston Ebony Opera Guild, the Robert A. Henry Lecture and Concert Preview will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ, 3115 Blodgett Street, Houston, Texas 77004.

THE ANNUAL AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSIC GALA:
A Concert of Works by Black Composers
“And Ye Shall Have A Song “ is the inspiring title of the 2012 AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSIC GALA. The program for this popular annual concert will feature works by contemporary Black composers known for both their fresh approach to the Negro Spiritual and original compositions that reflect African American music traditions. The renowned Ebony Opera Guild Chorus and soloists will perform under the baton of Dr. Barbara Baker, an internationally acclaimed choral conductor based in Washington, D.C.
Performances will be held at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3 and 4 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Christ Church Cathedral located at 1117 Texas Avenue at San Jacinto. Tickets required for admission. Parking is FREE in the Cathedral’s garage.
Ticket Information: General Admission tickets are $25 each and $30 at the door. Patron tickets are $40 each with the supporter’s name listed in the printed program if payment is received prior to the print deadline. Tickets may be purchased online, or by calling Patricia Gregory at 713-748-3642 or Third World Imports, a local art gallery, at 713-526-1980. The gallery is conveniently located at 3011 Caroline Street.
