Course DescriptionMorning practice time will be mostly Mysore style but I opt to conduct occasionally if it seems in the flow or beneficial
Often I like to start a retreat with Mysore practice, then switch to conducted for a few days then back to Mysore. I find it helps move things along better. I hope this could work in the schedule, with the expectations of the students
Afternoons will be asana clinics
We will work on what we see from morning practice needs more attention.
Like how one hand washes the other we will use both morning practice and afternoon clinics to help improve our practice
Possible topics could include special focus on:
-Shoulders: Learning how to protect and open them properly. How to use them better in inversions, standing postures, backbends…
-Hips: Correct alignment of legs and pelvis. Using standing postures as well as seated twists, forward bends and backbends to explore our hips
-Inversions: Overcoming obstacles like fear, instability or weakness in the arms and shoulders. Beneficial effects as well as risk factors will be explored
-Backbends: Making backbends fun. Learn how to work properly. The goal; simple instructions to learn back bends without pain.
- Forward bends and twists: Profound and deep, these asanas are the most common kind of movement we use in life. Learn more, Suffer less!
-Pranayama: Breath and Consciousness are intimately connected. This is a huge arena of exploration into our deeper, inner self.
-Philosophy: It helps us orient our practices in a yoga way and our practices help us understand philosophy. It is the essential ingredient, the 1% theory!
-Chanting: using the vibration from our voice to open and clear the inner channels, to focus the mind and purify our body/mind.
-Meditation: Let’s spend some time in sitting meditation. This is where all our practices come together. This is Yoga.
