Revolutions, Reels & Rhythms Birth & Evolution of Afro-Cuban Rhythms
In honor of Black History Month, Chicago State University is proud to welcome The National Autonomous University of México, UNAM, in Chicago featuring Afri-Caribe to present this exciting workshop.
Professional dancers and musicians demonstrating traditional drumming and dance of several Puerto Rican Bomba rhythms.
If you dance Salsa or are interested in learning, this is your chance to explore the birth and evolution of genres such as Salsa, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Danzón, Cumbia, Merengue, Guaracha, Changüi, Sones, Latin Jazz and other traditional and contemporary rhythms.
Each music genre will be explored in terms of its place and date of origin, musical structure and representative artists and tracks, from the arrival of Enslaved African to Cuba to the hot salsa clubs of Chicago.
