ELAINE PEACE is a lindy Hop teacher visiting India for 6 months from Ireland. She is currently volunteering in a school in Chennai until the end of April and then traveling around India. Elaine would love to share her passion for Lindy Hop by having this 2 hour workshop. No partner or experience in dance is required and all are welcome to join us. In this 2 hour workshop you will learn Lindy Hop as well as the Charleston and Authentic Jazz moves from the 1930s. This fun and relaxed workshop will help you gain confidence on the dance floor.



Elaine is originally from Scotland but has been living in Ireland since 2000. While studying art Elaine discovered a love of Salsa dancing and began teaching it while at college. On graduating in 2006 Elaine moved to Cork for an art teaching post and to her delight she tried out Lindy hop and loved its playful nature and musicality. As there were only monthly classes in Cork Elaine trained abroad and in Ireland and became the first regular teacher of Lindy Hop in the south of Ireland. Over the years Elaine set up regular weekly classes, monthly workshops and parties, and large scale Swing dance events to help the dance community grow. A popular dance event as part of the Cork Guinness Jazz festival was called ‘The Cotton Club’ and photos can be seen at www.swingdancecork.com.



Lindy Hop is a dance originating from Harlem in America from the 1930s. It’s a bit like Jive and is fun and easy to learn. Lindy Hop is a partner dance but can also be done on your own. It can be cool and smooth or wild and dynamic, whatever you want to make it!
