Hey Guys!
March 8th is International Womens Day. Many of you who talk to me on a regular basis will know that I'm constantly going off about women's issues; whether it be in the workplace, personal life, or really any other relevant facet. I believe that all women should be strong, independent contributors to and leaders in whatever society they belong to. But in many developing nations worldwide, it is a daily struggle for many women to even survive. Often, women are responsible for collecting water, firewood and other basic necessities. This leaves them little time to attend school, access health services or earn money to support their families.
CARE Canada is an amazing organization that helps women and girls in over 80 developing nations worldwide to become equipped with the proper resources to help their families and entire communities escape poverty. An additional note which is very important is that CARE prides itself on the fact that 87 cents out of every dollar that is donated to the organization goes directly to its work worldwide. I could not possibly describe here all the wonderful things they do and have done, so for more information please visit www.care.ca
CARE has a program called "Walk in Her Shoes" which takes place on March 8th, International Womens Day. It is an individual and flexible program where people can individually raise money for the organization and walk/run in support of CARE or they can organize a team to do the walk/run. I have just set up a team, so anyone who is interested in joining me on March 8th to walk/run in support of women worldwide, please visit this page to register:

This link leads you to my teampage. If you solely wish to donate, please click the "Make a gift!" link on the right hand side of the page. If you wish to join me in the walk/run on March 8th at 6pm at Prince's Island Park, please click the "Join Team" Link which is in red and is located in the table on the bottom left of the page (kind of hard to see unfortunately). There is a $20 registration fee. The reason there is a registration fee is because it covers CARE's costs to provide all participants with a pedometer to track their steps, a Walk In Her Shoes shirt, and access to an interactive online fundraising page, making it easier to reach out to your network for pledges.
You may notice in the Walk in Her Shoes main page that it's talking about doing the walk/run everyday for 8 days. I know all of us lead extremely busy lives. I really didn't see people coming out for 8 days straight so I decided to just make it for International Womens Day, March 8.
Even if you are not interested in this, if you know someone who would be interested in either donating money to this amazing organization or participating in the walk/run, please send them the link above.
I will get back to you guys on the exact location we will be doing the walk/run and where we will meet at Prince's Island once I have scoped everything out. Stay tuned!
Even if you plan to do nothing with all this, thank you even for reading probably the longest event description ever. :)
If you have any questions or wish to contact me, please message me on here or call/text me at 403 875 1185.
