Rona Altrows comes from Montreal. In her youth, she lived in Outremont (the poor part, not the part where Trudeau came from). She attended Outremont High School and McGill University where she took degrees in Arts, Education and Law, and performed in many McGill Players productions. In 1979, she moved to Calgary. She is the author of two short story collections, A Run On Hose and Key In Lock. With Naomi K. Lewis, she is co-editor of Shy, an upcoming anthology on shyness.

Susan Calder was born and raised in Montreal where she lived until she moved to Calgary in 1996. She graduated from Lachine High School and Concordia University (BA, Urban Studies, 1988). Her first published works were travel articles in The Montreal Gazette. Susan went on to publish short stories and poems, and then her book Deadly Fall, a murder mystery set in Calgary and featuring ex-Montrealer sleuth Paula Savard.

Barbara Schleifer was born in Montreal and spent her formative years with a clear view of the Shrine's dome from her bedroom window. She graduated from McGill University (BA - Psychology; Diploma in Education) and attended art classes at Concordia University. Now living in Calgary, she works as a community planner, writer and communications specialist in the non-profit sector. She writes fiction set mainly in Montreal and area.

Julie Sedivy was born in the Czech Republic and at age four, she immigrated to Montreal, later attending Villa Maria School. That city left a permanent cultural and literary imprint on her psyche. She has since gone on to work as a linguist and psychologist, and is the lead author of Sold on Language: How Advertisers Talk to You and What This Says About You. She is working on a book of poetry and serves as Vice President of the Writers’ Guild of Alberta.
