MATT ANDERSEN’S INTERNATIONAL

PUSH KEEPS MOVING FORWARD, AFTER RECEIVING THREE MAPLE BLUES AWARDS IN JANUARY IN TORONTO: Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist and Acoustic Artist of the Year.

Canadian artist set to tour UK, Ireland

and Holland in February and March

John Lee Hooker said it years ago: “It’s too late to quit now!”

For guitarist singer and songwriter Matt Andersen, it’s not too late — but he’s pushing hard to build an international career, and it’s falling into place.

Now — while he’s currently touring the interior of British Columbia on a seven-date sold-out tour — he’s preparing for a two-month trip to Europe, where he has nine concerts in Holland, and no less than 17 in England, Ireland and Scotland. The tour starts in Holland on February 24, and ends March 29 in the UK.

After touring Australia — including seven days at the massive Woodford Folk Festival north of Brisbane over the Christmas-New Year’s period — he was one of the handfull of acoustic performers on the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise in the Caribbean. It was his second trip on the cruise; this time he played alongside Taj Mahal, Bettye Lavette, Tommy Castro, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, fellow Canadian Shakura S’Aida and dozens more.

When he’s not on tour, he’s now living in Wolfville, outside Halifax, Nova Scotia. Chances are, however, that he’ll not be at home long — he’s booked (so far) at nine major Canadian folk, blues and rock festivals this summer.

He’s also signed an exclusive agreement with Steven Scharf Entertainment in New York, a major company that licenses music to film, television, commercial sponsors and other platforms.

At home, Andersen has been nominated in five categories at the East Coast Music Awards to be held in Moncton, NB in April — including nominations for Entertainer of the Year, Video of the Year and Album of the Year for his new release Coal Mining Blues on the Busted Flat label.

Boogie Patrol is a Blues, Funk, Soul band from Edmonton, Alberta. After creating a serious buzz on the lips of Edmontonians in the know, these diverse musicians have branched out to play more of Western Canada and are continually impressing crowds, both old and new. Showcasing the talent of Alberta’s own "Rotten" Dan on harmonica and vocals and Nigel Gale on bass, Boogie Patrol brings funk back to its roots along with Japan ex-pat Yuji Ihara cranking out jaw-dropping guitar solos and Sean Grieve tickling the ivories 'til they're numb.

Since their inception in 2007, Boogie Patrol have played hundreds of shows: they have headlined at North Country Fair, Pembina River Nights & the Beaumont Blues Festival (2009 & 20010), as well as Wild Oats & Notes and Sasquatch Gathering (2010). Most notable performances as of late have been opening for The Fabulous Thunderbirds (March, 2011) and the legendary Buddy Guy (May, 2011).

Boogie Patrol leads to you a place of good lovin, combining mind-bending guitar, keys & harmonica solos with a rhythm section that you can't help but move 'n' groove to. These boys stay true to their name and take letting loose to a whole new level. In the words of Ric Hall, guitarist for Buddy Guy: "Boogie Patrol is off the hook! They're on fire!"

Tickets for this show are $45, incudes GST and service charges.
