Celebrate the launch of New Wild Everywhere, the Great Lake Swimmers’ 5th album (to be released April 3, 2012), which reveals a depth and maturity previously only hinted at by lead singer and songwriter Tony Dekker, who has spent the last decade entrancing listeners with his unforgettable voice and compelling songwriting. With timeless melodies telling undiscovered stories, New Wild Everywhere maintains an acute respect for the folk tradition.
Featuring long-time collaborator Erik Arnesen on banjo and guitar, new addition Miranda Mulholland on backing vocals and violin, Bret Higgins on upright bass, and drummer Greg Millson, New Wild Everywhere explores transcendence in the natural world to describe universal themes of love, mortality and escape. Songs move from physical to spiritual and from the immediate present to an all-encompassing future, all represented by Dekker’s ability to weave insightful lyrics into deceptively simple, hook-laden tunes.
Recently signed to Arts & Crafts Records, Cold Specks is 23-year-old Al Spx from Etobicoke, Canada, who now lives in London. Describing her sound as 'Doom Soul', Cold Specks' music is steeped in Deep South musical traditions, with sparse arrangements and chaingang rhythms that stop you dead in your tracks.
