AUDIORAMA & RESOLUTE welcome KONRAD BLACK, founder of the Canadian label WAGON REPAIR! Next to him, CONNIE, resident DJ from New York's best party concept: Resolute!
Time has accelerated ten-fold for Konrad over years since the dark, shadowy tones of “Draconia” & “Medusa Smile” enveloped dancefloors around the Globe, christening his influencial Wagon Repair label in style as well as establishing him as a highly innovative producer and much sought after remixer.
He quickly found himself holding down one of the much coveted residencies at the Legendary Panorama Bar as well as regular spots at dance musics epicenters; Fabric in London, Rex in Paris, Tenax in Florence, Privilege in Ibiza to name a few…
After 5 years of a hectic touring schedule, Konrad relocated to Los Angeles and teamed up with fellow producer Martin Buttrich to record a yet unreleased album. For Konrad the aim was to remove himself from the day to day influence of the dance scene in Berlin and "clear the sonic palette" by relocating to a place whose palette couldn't be further from that of techno's mecca of Berlin. "We wanted to be as far from the scene's influence as we could be; Away from any outside musical influence. Berlin is full of musicians of the electronic variety so we decided to do the album in L.A. in the winter time…and I'm happy we did! "It was nice to be back in that west coast laid back way of life…one that I actually missed…which I never thought that I would. "One that couldn't be further literally and figuratively from the 24/7 Techno of Berlin."
Konrad finally met up with fellow Vancouverite Mathew Jonson who was already having massive success producing on the much lauded It Is What It Is label. Together with Graham Boothby and Jesse Fisk they founded Wagon Repair, basically “to do whatever the hell we wanted to do’’ and in a relatively short space of time it’s developed into one of the most respected labels around. Konrad’s own approach to music basically sums up their original mandate – “It’s important to let music mature and resonate. It’s important to know who you are and to embrace the things that drive you forward even if they seem strange to others’’.

When she first became a part of New York's dance scene, Connie was shocked to see how few women were DJ-ing the many parties around town. Never one to settle, she has been teaching women to spin for over two years. In addition, Connie is teaming up with Halcyon Record Store to foster and promote local female DJs via an event called "Ladies’ Night," which features a new female DJ spinning on-site every Thursday.
▬ RESOLUTE NYC ▬
ReSolute NYC is an electronic music events company that emerged 4 years ago as an innovative platform for showcasing the best talent in undiscovered places, from warehouse parties of epic proportions, to spontaneous midweek gatherings of a few hundred or so close friends.
The 4 year anniversary party in November brought over 800 people to an amazing industrial space in Brooklyn (complete with custom video installations and aerialist performances by Seanna Sharpe), and our Halloween blowout “Get Spooky,” sold over 650 presale tickets. Some of our more intimate events include our Thursday parties, which draw 200 – 400 people to warm and cozy destinations throughout the city. Some of our past headliners have included DJ Hell, Ellen Aillen, Guy Gerber, Kruder, Kiki, Mathew Jonson, Delano Smith, Lee Burridge, and Mathias Kaden.
An international force as well as a local one, ReSolute has thrown events around the globe. In the past few years ReSolute has brought its underground vibe to Rex Club in Paris, Weekend in Berlin, Mulletover Halloween at Ewer Street Car Park in London, Arma 17 in Moscow, and during BPM festival in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Inside the US, ReSolute has also participated at WMC in Miami and brought the ReSolute brand TV Lounge in Detroit.
In 2011, ReSolute expanded its creative vision and founded ReSolute Label, an outlet for new and inspiring electronic music from the ReSolute family. Three strong releases marked its first year, featuring artists Franklin De Costa, Dario Zenker, Elon, Maceo Plex, Francesco Tedeschi, Kiki, and Agaric. ReSolute label has already received strong support from top DJs such as Ali of Tiefschwarz, DJ Hell, Magda, Danny Howells, Christian Smith, and Laurent Garnier, and its releases were charted by Mark Henning, Jef K, Silicone Soul, Catz N’ Dogz, Le Loup, Martin Eyerer and others.
2012 started off with a bang for ReSolute, ringing in the New Year in full force with performances by Detroit legend Stacey Pullen, Konrad Black, Alexi Delano, Quenum, Francis Harris & Jordan Lieb for their NY debut of their new project, Lightbluemover vs. Black Light Smoke. The party was so sought-after that a second room was opened up during the night for all of the ReSolute party go-ers. The next event of the year was an official stop of Oslo Record’s “No Way to Norway Tour,” where label head Federico Molinari was joined by Oslo favorite Damian Schwartz, and Philipp Jung of M.A.N.D.Y. played a special early morning set.
ReSolute has more exciting events planned for the New Year, including the first Life and Death showcase in New York, with Tale of Us + Thugfucker on January 27th, Âme, Chaime, and Smash TV on February 10th, and Tiefschwarz brothers Ali and Basti together for an extended set on March 23rd. Stay tuned, this is only the beginning!
