At our next meeting on Thursday, February 23rd, we will be joined by special guests: Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes and Brooklyn Judges Barry Kamins & William Miller. They will speak on the improvements made to the Kings County Court System. Bring your questions.
Following our talk with the D.A., we will vote on some revisions to our by-laws & elect new officers for 2012. Check out our website for important information on how you can participate in this crucial process.
NKD Board Elections
During our next meeting on Thursday, February 23rd, we will be holding our Board Elections. The process for nominating candidates is as follows:
NKD members have until Wednesday, February 15th to nominate themselves or others for the following positions:
President
Vice President of Political Affairs
Vice President of Organizing
Secretary
Treasurer
Communications Director
An individual must be nominated to run for office. For detailed descriptions of the offices or to nominate someone, email: newkingsdemocrats@gmail.com
By Friday, February 17th, we will individually notify those who have been nominated and ask that they accept their nomination by sending us a short description of their interest in the position. This must be submitted to us by email by Tuesday, February 21st at 5pm.
The information submitted by the nominees will be circulated to NKD members by email on the date of elections on Thursday, February 23rd and will be available at the meeting. Nominees will be invited to deliver a short speech and members can discuss any nominee openly.
To be eligible to Vote or Run: You must (a) have paid your 2012 dues; and (b) attended at least 2 NKD events or meetings within the last year (including the meeting on the 22nd). For questions about NKD dues or your eligibility, email Alex Low at AlexLow@NewKingsDemocrats.com.
