ATTENTION ALL MUSICIANS!!
Percussionist/Drummer SCOTT KETTNER and Accordionst/Pianist ROB CURTO are pleased to announce that the NORTHEASTERN BRAZILIAN WORKSHOP will continue for another 5 week session beginning
FEBRUARY 26th, 1-3 pm.
FEB 26th, MAR 4, 11, 18 and 25.
This will be an exciting and informative ensemble class for all instrumentalists and singers. Toget...her we will explore and learn to master the basics of the rich musical traditions of Pernambuco, Brazil. BAIÃO, FORRÓ, FREVO, MARACATU and XOTE. Learn about one the world's most exciting musical traditions and centers of creative musical innovation! These classes are designed for musicians of all levels so don’t hesitate to sign up.
EACH 2 HOUR CLASS will include:
-Exploration of Historical and Cultural Significance
-Listening and Discussion of Famous Recordings
-Training in Percussion as the Root of all Brazilian Music
-Accompaniment within the Rhythmic and Harmonic Tradition
-Improvisation within the Style
-Melodic Interpretation and Variation
-Repertoire Development
-Ensemble Rehearsal of New Arrangements
All instrumentalists are welcome including but not limited to the following; bass, guitar, accordion, keyboards, brass and reed instruments, vocalists, percussionists and drummers. There is limited space for this class. Students will be accepted on a first come first serve basis so please RSVP now to save your spot.
How Much:
$25 per class or $110 for all 5 classes if you pay in advance.
