Free Candy is a free creative space where artists and creatives are invited to come together to share ideas and develop those ideas collectively into something new and different.
Free Candy is located in Brooklyn’s most influential and creative community - Clinton Hill/Bed-Stuy. Developed to address the lack of mixed-use creative space in central Brooklyn, FreeCandy functions as an art gallery, photo studio, dance rehearsal space, seminar space, small cinema, sound stage and place of general inspiration and innovation for Brooklyn’s highly regarded artistic community. This month Celebrating Black History Month
(U)nity a fiery international quintet of musicians playing Afro Cuban Music fuzed together with Jazz, Hip Hop, R&b.
(U)nity's musical directors Axel Tosca & Amaury Say
"now a days we are very isolated, we are all are own grind, especially in new york, I remember the days when people were kind and curdiouis, a guy would actually hold the door for a lady, when we saw a mother by herself going down the stair with her baby carriage and we would help her to come down, and how we used to say please and thank you. NY is a hustle town which is great but it is a very blunt place, we are becoming more isolated and introverted, and our sense for love and compassion is diminishing. What we hope to accomplish with (U)nity is to bring back ethics, class, and respect for one another. to enlighten people and bring them on our sonic journey and experience the richness of our diverse cultural backgrounds. (U)nity is a completely international band(NY, CUBA, MINNEAPOLIS, PARIS, RODE ISLAND).
"When we first started the band we wanted to make a sound that hasnt been created before, Fuzing my afro cuban cultures, with amaury's NY culture ( Jazz, hip hop). When we first started we didnt not want to make a conventional sound that could easily be marketed, so we are establishing the term "Genreless" our music is not classifiable by any term " - Axel
"We wanted to do something completely fresh and original, we have started thinking of different ideas and concepts for the music, now a days i think the music is pushing in different direction, i dont think were making music any more, we are making textures, & moods, i feel that all of our tunes go through different places, and they all feel different. We want our music to feel like a movie, where it has a story and slowly keeps moving forward, and story keeps unraveling and turns into different things and places... I dont know where the music is going to keep going every time we play it keeps changing and morphing" -Amaury
