After 26 years as "the south's greatest rock band" (Spin Magazine) and being inducted into Louisiana's Music Hall Of Fame, Dash Rip Rock are coming up to grace us northerners with their royal presence. I can go on and on about how amazing this band is and how incredible their live performances are and continue to be, but I would rather you just come and witness it on your own. Need to know more? Go to http://dashriprock.net/

And check these out:

"Dash Rip Rock is the kind of band that provides a lesson in American rock-and-roll history wrapped up in a party package. Skillful musicians with a penchant for getting reliably wild, the group mixes up rockabilly, blues and country stomp for a guaranteed good time."

--New York Times

"Their manic stage presence and quirky music makes them sound like the Ramones playing Patsy Cline."

--USA TodayAlso performing by way of New Orleans then filtered through Brooklyn is Mighty Fine. The undisputed leaders of the soul-rock revolution will make you shake that thang all night. The new record, "Get Up To Get Down," is out now! I could tell you all sorts of good things about it, but why listen to me? Read what the Village Voice wrote:

"Mighty Fine are Brooklyn's sweatiest, sexiest, grimiest soul-punks, something Jonathan Toubin would want to will into existence at a humid 4 a.m. loft party. Their latest album Get Up To Get Down (out now via Drug Front) is all the gnash-and-gnarl of the Dirtbombs' Ultraglide In Black with a little more screaming and some monster Bo Diddley beats."

Go buy the record now: http://drugfrontrecords.com/category/bands/mighty-fine/

And if that ain't all, yet another southern transplant will be here to entertain you. Hans Chew moved to New York from Atlanta after getting his amazing piano skills together via a very healthy diet of James Booker, Dr. John and Professor Longhair. Add that with a bit of Leon Russell, The Band and Jerry Lee Lewis and you have one of the best recipes for some great American music. Check out these reviews:

"4 stars...fabulous...timeless...reminiscent of John Prine, then Steve Earle...Chew plays out a whole range of talents, of which the singing and songwriting are the most striking..."

- Wolfgang Doebeling, Rolling Stone Magazine

"4 stars...rollicking, lascivious, honky-tonking...a terrific full-blooded singer-songwriter...a lost classic from 2010..."

- John Mulvey, Uncut MagazineYou can't lose with a show like this. Come on down to the world famous Don Pedro's on Friday, March 2nd and have an amazing time.
