BELOW FURTHER INFORMATION for samba Dance workshops with MARIANA RABELLO PINHO
MARACATU is a major cultural expression from the northeast region of Brazil, which involves lively dance, music and theatrical performance. This is a family-based tradition where the dance characters flow in movements that are related to the power of nature and recreate a crowning celebration of the King of Congo blending symbols from indigenous, african and european roots. The costumes are very colourful and the drumbeat takes everyone around to an ecstatic mode.
Samba reggae /ijexa - from Bahia & Pernambuco ( northeast of Brasil, is an exhilarating rhythm that arose in the context of the black pride movement and became hugely popular in Brazil in the mid-80’s. Its roots are on the manifestation of the God’s of nature called Orixás. WIth raw movements, this is a popular street dance where routines are created and performed in parades and festivities.
Samba - from Rio de Janeiro: Leaving the cliches aside, samba is a manifestation that includes the whole family and its movements are for elevation and enjoyment of each instrument and the flow of each beat reflecting on the body! From slow samba, passing through pagode, partido alto we progress the expressions and the music speed ending in full batucada mode!
Look forward see you all at the party and workshops please watch this space for updates.
Spreading the love xx
