Born Murvin Junior Smith in Jamaica, Junior Murvin started his public performances as a youth in Montego Bay and later in the Kingston ghetto of Trenchtown, making important connections in the country's thriving reggae scene.
After achieving minor success in the early 70s, Junior Murvin spent time working on his songwriting and guitar, and finally in 1976, Junior Murvin successfully auditioned for Lee "Scratch" Perry (who was at the time running his own Black Ark Studio), with his rude-boy anthem "Police and Thieves".
"Police and Thieves" struck a chord in Jamaica and England, and topped the charts in both countries, which were at the time experiencing times of racial unrest.
Junior Murvin and Lee "Scratch" Perry completed a whole album, also titled "Police and Thieves" in 1977, the album reaching an all-time classic status around the world. This album made Murvin a legend on his own right, with his unique falsetto also inspiring Lee "Scratch" Perry's productions.
Continuing to release albums and singles up until the late nineties, Junior Murvin now returns to the stage to perform "Police and Thieves" in its entirety, plus all his other hits at Concorde2. This is guaranteed to be a fantastic show, so don't miss out!
