Join us from noon, at Preston Park, for body painting, bike decoration and Olympic parody pre-ride fun run as we build up to 1.30pm for the annual eco-protest procession through the city, finishing with a big splash at the naturist beach by the Marina (around 4pm).

Every year, in cities around the world, people ride bikes naked to celebrate cycling and human body power. The ride demonstrates the vulnerability of cyclists on the road and is a protest against car culture and our destructive addiction to oil.

Brighton's seventh World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) will take place on Sunday 10 June 2012 (date to be confirmed). Rain and wind meant a lower turnout in 2011, but we still managed an astonishing 300 riders. 800-1,000 riders took part in 2010 – up from 700, 400, 180 and 160 in previous years. Many more are expected in 2012. As of the 2007 ride, following negotiations with Sussex Police, full nudity is permitted at the event.

The event will form the finale to a weekend of UK and worldwide rides, including nearby Portsmouth, Southampton and London the two days before, which will allow people to take part in four southern rides.

The ride forms part of local and national Bike Week. It also celebrates Brighton's status as a Cycle Demonstration Town.

Bring a working bike, flags, banners, fun provocative slogans, whistles, bells, food, water, sun cream and smiles.
