- **Event Description**: With only two weeks to go before "wdail" we are releasing details to the press. We are asking local groups to promote this too and we have a press release that can be used and adapted. 

Also, myself, Deborah Minns and a few of the doctors giving speeches at the march are available to talk to the press in various forms if anyone wants us to respond from the contacts you have made.

Of course the press like locals talking about events and why they are happening so if you can please feel free to talk to radio and send the press release to local news papers.

"This year for the first time Birmingham has the honour of hosting World Day for Animals in Laboratories.  The city centre will be home to over 1000 protesters from all walks of life in a peaceful and united stance against vivisection on the 28th April 2012.

So what is so important about WDAIL?  Each year over 150million animals are killed globally in vivisection laboratories. With 4 million animals being used is experiments in the UK alone. Vivisection not only kills millions of innocent animals annually, it tortures them through poisoning, surgical mutilation, injecting diseases and numerous other ways far too horrific to mention.

The WDAIL aims to educate people on what goes on inside the vivisection laboratories and that this research is not effective. It’s bad science that harms humans. This year there will be 3 respected doctors talking about the ineffective use of animal experiments for medical research and the more effective cruelty free alternatives.
Dean Bracher from Birmingham Animal Actions states ‘"this day will bring people of all different backgrounds together and will unite us all in saying vivisection is bad science, it’s unethical and we can all do something positive to stop it’

The rally will start at 12pm in Victoria Square where there will be informative talks by doctors and antivivisection campaigners, followed by a peaceful march through the city centre to raise awareness for the day and to rally support. There is also going to be numerous information stalls where people can find out more and also what steps they can take to end this cruelty. Finally the day will end with a benefit gig at the function room of O’Neill’s Pub on Broad Street where there will be live music and vegan catering.
