JOHN J PRESLEY

After ten years of rearranging, rethinking, re-loving and realising, the body of work that has been buried deep in the psyche of John Presley it is now ready to be pressed.

Written in romantic pockets of disparaging times, John’s latest EP fuses all his musical references and influences effortlessly together to create something so very fragile, but so very bold. With the fragility of Josh T Pearson, the raucousness of Tom Waits and the orchestration of the Dirty Three, John Presley summons something quite enticing. Recorded in an old cotton mill in Rochdale surrounded by friends and fellow musicians, this inspired work is a huge reminder of what talent this country has if you look deep enough.

HORRORSHOW

Horrorshow is a dog with two dicks chasing its own mangy riffery. The pair race each other to the end of each song – you’d be hard pushed to keep up. The drum skins quiver like nervous buttocks spanked by the pretty drummer Luke Pyper, while the guitar work from Miles Vanian Cocker is a common cause of nose bleeds. As far as comparing them to others, Horrorshow has the blood of late 70s UK Punk and the heart of certain Seattle Grunge bands – but to feel the real impact, turn up and remain passive in their hands.
