"Without homosexuals there would be no Hollywood, no theater, no arts."
- Elizabeth Taylor
Since the birth of cinema almost 200 years ago LGBT people have been represented, sometimes obviously like the Sissy's of the silent movies in the early 1900s and sometimes slyly when Hollywood's infamous Hay's Code banned outright the obvious portrayal of Homo's.
As part of LGBT History Month, Joey Vivo presents "QUEERING THE CINEMA" - a night exploring LGBT in film.
Author José Arroyo will be speaking on LGBT representations throughout cinema's history up to contemporary works and there will be a screening of a feature film with LGBT themes.
Magpie Magazine are running a competition to all film makers calling for short film submissions where the film looks at LGBT themes. We will also get to see the winning entries.
It promises to be a great night for all people who enjoy film, and those interested in LGBT representations.
