In the contemporary age of greater access to information, Constitutional inquesitiveness has gained impetus. The overwhelming existance of science and technology and the changing nature of economic life have bought with them the ability to transform state policies. With such changes, the ingredients of our democracy namely, sovereignty, social welfare, supply of public utilities and separation of powers need to be reevaluated in their Constitutional perspectives. In the midst of the Parliamentary debates pertaining to second generation economic reforms there is a need to review their impact on Constitutional Law. Some of the questions can be:
1) To accomodate the demanding needs of the market is the Parliament undermining our Constitutional principles and doctrines?
2) Can India's economic policy in the epoch of a global market be considered socialist in spirit?
3) Is India truly a welfare State?
4) Are International treaty obligations diluting the concept of Sovereignty?
5) Is the Parliament over-delegating its powers to administrative bodies?
