The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) is glad to announce the organization of Samarthanam Cricket Cup 2012, in association with Tyco Electronics Corporation India Pvt Ltd. CABI is the sports initiative of Bangalore based NGO, Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled. It is the apex body that organizes and conducts blind cricket across India. This tournament is essentially meant to raise funds for the forthcoming T – 20 Cricket World Cup for the Blind that is scheduled to be held in December 2012 in Bangalore. All the major test-playing nations are taking part in the tournament along with new entrants, Nepal. More than 48 teams are expected to take part in this exciting four-weekend affair, starting from 25th February, 2012. The corporate houses will clash with each other in enthralling 10 overs-a-side, fun-filled knock out encounters. There are also other goodies in store for the participants to take away, like the man of the match, player of the tournament, best batsman, best bowler and best fielder of the tournament awards, along with glittering trophies for the winners and runners up. There is already a great deal of enthusiasm among few of the companies we have gotten in touch with.

This first Samarthanam & TE Connectivity Samarthanam Cricket Cup will be played at Bangalore. The participating teams will have the names of its players, coaches and managers indelibly etched into the record books for competing for a cause.

The teams will slug it out over 4 weekends in this exciting knock out tournament. The teams will be divided into two groups by draw of lots, the tournament culminates with the grand finale to be played on 25th March, 2012. The tournament byelaws are in the process of being drafted and will be made available soon. The corporate teams will pay an entry fee of Rs 20,000/-.
