Paint Me Black: The Celebration is a theatrical production written and directed by Oglethorpe University Juniors, Asia Ashley and Tatiana Randolph. The production will not only present talents of Oglethorpe’s African American student body, but also will celebrate the impact African Americans have had on American culture in the realm of film, television, and music. There will be dancing, monologues, poetry, singing, and much more. With over 30 African American student cast members, “Paint Me Black” aims to be largest production of its kind in the 177-year history of Oglethorpe University.
There will be NO FEE for the production, but audience members are encouraged to donate. Half of the proceeds will be given to the Hagar House in Atlanta, Georgia to supply homeless children with art supplies. The other half will be to start a scholarship for high school seniors at Providence St. Mel High School in Chicago, Illinois; the home town of the writers and directors of Paint Me Black.
The production will take place
SATURDAY, MARCH 10, 2012 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and
SUNDAY, MARCH 11, 2012 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Oglethorpe University’s Lupton Hall.Please RSVP at paintmeblack2012@gmail.com as space is limited.
