Sisterhood Society Remembrance


Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, Incorporated is a historically South Asian based sorority. Founded on December 10, 1998 by ten Distinguished Ladies at St. John’s University in New York, Sigma Sigma Rho was the first sorority of its kind to be established on the East Coast. The name Sigma Sigma Rho was chosen for this organization because it substantially upholds our motives and goals, which are expressed in Sisterhood, Society, and Remembrance. Sigma Sigma Rho embodies unity amongst women of South Asian descent, strives to serve society on a small and large scale, and holds fast in instilling a sense of pride in the background of each individual sister.


Sigma Sigma Rho at the University of Georgia was established by five distinguished ladies on January 27th 2007. This organization was the FIRST of its kind on campus and has reached numerous platforms since its institution. Our family consists of sisters from all different backgrounds and religions who contribute to our sorority in their own unique fashion. The unity of our differences has led to many of our recent achievements including:

- Most Social Organization Award of 2012
- Most Outstanding Leader Award of 2012
- Only organization from the Multicultural Greek Council selected to be in Freshmen Greek Council
- 2nd place at Delta Epsilon Psi's Sugar Free Bowl 2011
- Crowned first place at the First and Second Annual Ms. Red Black and Green Pageant
- Won APIA Stroll Team Competition in 2009
